Vector/ sea cleaners vist

It's Saana. this week is green week where we focus on the environment. On Monday someone from Vector came to talk to us about how to save power and where that power comes from. I learnt that 63.5% of our power comes from hydro power. Also it costs around $100 to fill a car with petrol, It only takes 200 - 300 CENTS to power a car! Can you believe it?! AND if you only use a heated towel rail when necessary then all the time you could save more then 100 dollars a year.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     Today the sea cleaners visited and told us about how much rubbish is in the sea. they have four boats which are working full time. They collect gargantuan amounts of rubbish. some things you can do:

• pick up rubbish even if it isn't yours (think of all the turtles you would save!)
• Walk, bike scooter whenever possible (think of all the weight you could lose!)
• NO MORE PLASTIC!!!! (think of.... wait, I can't be bothered to do this anymore)
• Remember there is only one earth. Take care of it!
