Book Day

Hi Bloggers, Today it's book day. We have had a wonderful book week. There have been heaps of activities like making bookmarks in the library, Stop, Drop and Read and much more. I dressed up as Hermione Granger from the series of books, Harry Potter. Here are some photos

This is my word cloud fact file thingy. It was hard to find words that describe her. Other then that it was fun to make and I hope you like it.:)

Kate Sheppard Pt 3

These sentences are "sick". How could you improve or make them better?

Telling:  The woman pulled the world along a road. There was a city ahead. The sky was cloudy.

Showing: Puffing, the woman heaved the planet along a huge gravely road. Glancing up, the woman saw a huge magnificent city ahead. Cold and bitter, the clouds welled up and rain began to fall.

These are my improved versions of the sentences. They were fun to make and I hope you like them.

Show not tell

Tell: Grace was shocked!
Show: Mouth open, Grace's body tensed and her eyes opened as wide as the sun

Tell: Lily was excited
Show: Squirming in her seat, Lily let out a high pitched squeal. Her eyes widened and clasped her hands together so tight it looked like it would take years to undo them.

Tell:  Stephanie was sad :(
Show: Bottom lip quivering, Stephanie's knees bucked and tears gushed down her face like a waterfall.

Tell: Piper laughed.⊙△⊙
Show: Clutching her sides Piper fell over in fits of giggles. Her eyes closed as she tried to control her laughter
